DeoBioSciences, (DBS) is an early stage virtual life sciences firm.
Although we are principally located in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, our
virtual business model allows us to partner and leverage
opportunities in a non-geocentric fashion. Therefore, we conduct a
considerable amount of activity and partnering with geographically
dispersed entities. As stated on our
Home Page,   we are in preclinical
development of a naturally sourced anti-cancer therapeutic. The
candidate, DBX-31, exploits a novel therapeutic pathway that occurs
across a broad cross-section of malignancies.

"Targeted bioprospecting" is a good description of how we identify
drug targets. (More info about
bioprospecting is found further below
on this page.)

We are not infatuated with creating a biotech/life
sciences company for its own sake. That is,
DeoBioSciences is not a biotech company looking
for a product concept. We are not assembling a
team of smart biologists to “brainstorm” a
solution to any random problem.  Rather, DBS is
a corporate vehicle for reaching the end objective
of  testing and, if feasible, commercializing a
specific anti-cancer agent, DBX-31.

Our name says a lot about our company and
goals. The prefix "Deo" is Latin for "God" or "of God". This was chosen
as our name to codify our philosophy that sophisticated and
revolutionary naturally derived medicines are an inherent blend of
divinity and science. (Yes, different but hopefully not "weird"!) We
also believe that managing a successful company and maintaining
high ethical standards need not be mutually exclusive. DBS is a
secular entity and does not impose religious convictions in any way.
We value and seek a diverse array of stake holders.  We do,
however, support a way of doing business that is affirmatively
inspired by our ethical values. We believe our corporate values
reflect this position.

Mission:  To improve the health and lives of others through innovative
medical  research and therapy development while greatly benefiting our
various stakeholders in an ethical way.

Values:   We will apply ourselves diligently to accomplish the goals that
we set. We value honesty, fairness, a culturally and intellectually diverse
workplace, and social awareness. We value results over protocol. We
will try our best to benefit and satisfy our customers and stakeholders,
consistent with these values.

Vision:   To conduct research on naturally occurring substances that will
yield effective treatments for human cancers and other conditions that
cause illness. This will allow us to fulfill our greater organizational
mission on behalf of our customers, investors, employees and global
community.

Like nineteenth century pioneers who often risked everything for the
chance to head West in pursuit of golden fortune, "bioprospectors"
mine natural biological resources for potentially useful substances.
Frequently, bioprospecting is a search for useful organic compounds
in microorganisms, plants, and fungi that grow in extreme
environments, such as rainforests, deserts, and hot springs.

Thus, people learned that a sweet plant root had a higher sugar
content, or  discovered that a plant used for medicine contained
aspirin (salicylic acid).  (This is just a summary on bioprospecting.
R&D Objectives, has more info on bioprospecting and our R&D focus.)
Bioprospecting began when prehistoric
people noticed that one plant root tasted
better than another, or that some plants
could be used as medicines.  Much later,
scientists identified the active ingredients in
these plants.
